AboutI am a Postdoctoral Researcher (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Department of Philosophy at Humboldt University in Berlin, where I am currently pursuing a research project entitled "Ignorance, Responsibility and Moral Obligation". The project is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).
From April to September 2024 I will be Visiting Professor at Bielefeld University, where I will be standing in for Benjamin Kiesewetter while he is on sabbattical leave. Philpeople Profile • University Homepage • E-Mail Contact |
My research interests lie primarily at the intersection of normative ethics and metaethics. I am particularly interested in the ways in which agents have control over their own normative situations by what are commonly called normative powers, and the ways in which our epistemic limitations affect both what we are required to do and what we can be held responsible for. Beyond that, I also have interests in various questions in applied ethics, normative issues in epistemology, and the history of moral philosophy.
Before starting the research project at HU, I was teaching at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (from 2022 to 2023) and at Universität Potsdam (from 2020 to 2022). I received my PhD from Humboldt-University in Berlin in 2021, where I also completed my BA and MA. My doctoral thesis (on promissory normativity) was supervised by Thomas Schmidt (HU) and R. Jay Wallace (Berkeley).
